David Cooper

Regional Coach, Virginia

David Cooper serves as a Regional Coach with CommunityWorks to achieve, with neighborhoods, communities, congregations, and nonprofit organizations, the discovery of gifts, relationships, resources and capacities already present. Drawing on decades of multidisciplinary experience in social work, nonprofit leadership, pastoral ministry, construction and community development, David helps communities transition from “doing for” to “doing with” developing shared responsibility, local leadership, results-based outcomes, and hope.

David is a highly experienced executive leader of organizations and their teams, trainer, coach, mentor and colleague, achieving organizational transformation, community partnerships, and initiatives addressing homelessness, poverty, and neighborhood well-
being across the United States and internationally. He holds master’s degrees in Social Work and Divinity, a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Public (nonprofit) Management, is an ordained minister, and is deeply committed to helping communities cultivate the common good through the principles and practice of Asset-Based Community Development.
